Greenhouse Gas Emissions

As one of the world’s top providers of professional services for the measurement and analysis of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from aquatic environments (lakes, rivers and hydroelectric reservoirs), Englobe addresses environmental issues and the concerns of government and industry. Our company was involved in developing an international methodology for measuring net emissions from tropical reservoirs, and has participated in various GHG measurement projects in Canada (Quebec, Manitoba and Newfoundland and Labrador) and Australia (Tasmania, Queensland and New South Wales.

With recognized expertise and state-of-the-art scientific tools, we are a leader in GHG measurement. Our fieldwork is planned on the basis of each site and host environment, season, climate, etc.

Our Services

  • Measurement of gross and net aquatic emissions (CO2, CH4and N2O fluxes) using infrared and floating chamber techniques
  • Measurement of dissolved GHG concentrations (CO2and CH4,) using chromatography, working with recognized partners
  • Continuous measurement of dissolved GHG concentrations using automated systems
  • Development of a new in situ sensor for measuring pCO2and pCH4

Measurement of water quality variables: dissolved oxygen, pH, alkalinity, temperature, conductivity and turbidity. Other physicochemical variables (e.g., suspended solids, nutrients, etc.) may be analysed in cooperation with analytical laboratories.
