Celebrating Engineering Excellence in New Brunswick
The Englobe New Brunswick team won an ACEC-NB Engineering Excellence award for their role as prime consultant for the Neqotkuk First Nation Water Treatment Plant and Distribution Line project. Commissioned in November 2023, the new infrastructure is a point of pride for the community delivering safe water and enhancing capacity which is a significant improvement from their previous system.

The event serves to highlight the valuable contributions of New Brunswick’s Consulting Engineers in their work at home and abroad.

Award-Winning Project: Neqotkuk First Nation Water Treatment Plant and Distribution Line
Neqotkuk, New Brunswick, Canada
Working in partnership with Neqotkuk First Nation, Englobe used their expertise to improve the local water system by providing detailed design, construction inspection, and management services for a new water treatment facility in Neqotkuk.
Servicing a portion of the community, the new infrastructure includes drilled wells, potable well pumps and new well building, 1.5km long transmission main from the new well building to the new water treatment facility complete with nano filtration, UV disinfection, flow monitoring, and SCADA system.
From managing the detailed design to engaging all stakeholders, this project presented unique challenges for our team. By implementing proactive project management, advanced civil engineering, and culturally appropriate support, the new plant handles a design flow of 11.3L/s and allows for future growth.
